Bayor's 1996 book <em>Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta</em>. In this interview, Crim discusses the Atlanta School Compromise of 1973 and issues of school integration in Atlanta. Serving from 1973 to 1988, Crim was the first African American school superintendent ever hired by a major southern school system.

Interview with Andrew Young, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book <em>Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta</em>. In this interview, Young addresses the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, African American churches, and working with Martin Luther King, Jr. He also discusses his election and the evolution of the power structure of businesses with the Action Four Plan. Young was a U.S. Congressman from the 5th district from 1973-1977. He was the first African American from Georgia to be elected to Congress since Reconstruction. In 1977, President Jimmy Carter selected Young as the United Nations Ambassador. Also, Young served as Atlanta's mayor from 1982-1990.

Interview with Asa Yancey, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book <em>Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta</em>. In this interview, Yancey addresses the lack of adequate medical education for African Americans as well as segregation of Atlanta hospitals, particularly how African American doctors could and could not practice medicine. Yancey was the first African American physician on the staff at Grady Memorial Hopsital as well as the first African American member of the medical faculty at Emory University.

Interview with Billy McKinney, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book <em>Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta</em>. In this interview, McKinney discusses the racial discrimination that he experienced while working for the Atlanta Police Department. McKinney integrated the Atlanta Police Department by becoming Atlanta's earliest African American police officer. McKinney spearheaded the efforts of the Afro-American Police League by demanding the hiring of more African Americans and better treatment for African American civilians. He also served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1983 to 2002.
