Interview with Frances Pauley, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta. This interview addresses Pauley's passion for changing the treatment of African Americans, as well as her collaboration with African American organizations in support of that cause. A political organizer and activist, Pauley fought against discrimination in the South. For 15 years, she supported racial desegregation as a member of the League of Women Voters of Georgia. Also, as the Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Human Relations from 1961-1967, Pauley promoted interracial organizing and constitutional rights for African Americans.
