Interview with Isabella Holmes, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta. Holmes discusses issues surrounding the integration of Atlanta's schools in the 1960s. She was the mother of Hamilton E. Holmes, one of UGA's first African American students. Besides being a schoolteacher, Holmes worked extensively with the physically handicapped, speech and language impaired, hearing impaired, and visually impaired. She later became the first African American Coordinator of the Georgia Department of Education.
