RE: Public Meeting on all phases of Housing in Model Neighborhood Area
At the public hearing which the Commission held in the Summerhili-
Peoplestown and the Mechanicsville-Pittsburg areas, we were asked to
help plan one meeting for the whole model neighborhood area where
all the various questions about housing might be brought up and
discussed and answered as they relate to each other.
For example, if there is to be no lessening of code enforcement
during the year's planning period, where will people be relocated?
Are there relocation resources within the area? Will the schedul-
ing of improvements in streets, etc., be delayed until the year's
planning is done, or will that continue without regard to the model
planning? Etc., Etc.
It seemed to those present at the meetings that it would be helpful for
the residents to have an opportuniy to hear these and similar questions
put to the heads of the various departments concerned and for everybody
to hear everybody else's answers,
The group has scheduled such a meeting for Tuesday, April 25, 8 p.m.
at St. Stephen's Church, Georgia Avenue & Capitol Avenue.
THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO REQUEST EACH OF YOU TO COME SO THAT YOU CAN GIVE
ACCURATE AND AUTHORITATIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMS ADMINISTERED
BY YOUR DEPARTMENTS:
Planning and Zoning; Model Neighborhood, Mr. Collier Gladin
Inspection and Code Enforcement, Mr. William Wofford
Construction, Mr. Ray Nixon
Relocation, Mr. Les Persells
Housing Resources, Colonel Malcolm Jones
ec: Mayor Ivan Allen, Jr. o—
Alderman Rodney Cook
