Re: Ku Klux Klan Parade

I have been advised that the Klan has requested, and been granted
a permit by theff City of Atlanta, to parade on Sunday, June 4, 1967.
"Be parade route will take the Klansmen along Georgia Ave. and through
the heart of the Summerhill areg, The thought has been advanced that
the Klan parading through the Summerhill area on a Sunday has the makings
of an explosive situation. I agree. .

It is realized that from a legal standpoint the City is in no
position to refuse the permit. Suggest however we seriously consider

possibilities of getting route changed to lessen danger of some serious

outbreak,

communist ~ro~aganda stated:

A rer~ort from The California Senate Fact-Finding Committee ; on Un-American
Activities (rage 92) deseribes the ACLU in the following language:

Rev. Sam Williams stated in The Atlanta Constitution March 2, 1967, "I don't see
how a decent Christian can be a Ganitalist (Ca-italism-Private ownershir of ~rorerty or

Three members of The Community Relations Commission are known members of the red-
front American Civil Liberties Union, AACLU) They are: Mrs, Eliza, Paschall, Rev, Sam
Williams and Mr. T. M. Alexander, Sr. Mrs, Paschall has been named as the empcutive
director of this committee and will recieve a salary of $12,500.00 Ȏr year, ~-lus ex~enses
to be -~ayed by taxes from the citizens of Aflanta,
