Dear Mr, Allens

Although I am now in California attending Stanford
University, as a citizen of Atlanta I have kept
interested in the progress that you have so obviously
fostered,

It has become apparent to me that your Urban Corps
program is astounding in its forsight, The effect
on the college student participants and the persons
in disadvantaged areas with whom they worked is
well known here in Palo Alto, California,

I further understand that renewal of this project

is under consideration, I implore you to push

for its continuance, If we young people cannot find
established methods such as this to put our unselfish
talents and energies to work, then I fear the radicals
will have proven their point in the uselessness of
“working through the system",

Both you and I are proud of our city. As the city
government leader, vou should marshall its resources
to solve its problems, Not only are the young people
economically and energetically feasible, but building
a base of understanding at that level can help to
erase the base of hate and opression under which we
were brought up.
