Dear tir. Royal:
In regards to the petition from the mothers at the
Warren Jackson School for a School Traffic Police Woman,
we ace now attempting to fill this position.
Before the school yeer began I met with Mrs. Marie
Smart, principal, and at that time we did not anticipate
a need for a police woman.
After learning of this petition anc a call from Mrs.
Smart, we made anothsr survey and talked to several parents.
Some indic. ted they would let their children walk if there
was a Traffic Police Woman on duty. There are about 25 to
30 students walking or riding oicycles to school, using or
crossing Mt. Paran Road. Mt. Paran Road in the school area
is a very narrow road with many snarp curves. There are no
sidewalks in this area.
I have received permission from my superior officers and
the comptroller's office to hire a Trsffic Police Woman at
this school.
The school and the Parent Teacher's Association are now
assisting me in finding an applicant for this position.
Respectrully,
AW Fortin dee
