Dear Mayor Allen:

Thank you for your letter of the 2nd to the
President inviting him to participate in two impor-
tant events coming up in Atlanta - the dedication of
the new municipal stadium on July 29th, this year,
and the opening day of major league baseball there
in April of 1966. .

The President is appreciative of your inter-
est in writing him about these events and while it
is too early to know about the possibilities for the
spring of 1966, it is apparent from the schedule
that is developing for the summer that he will be
unable to accept the July invitation.

Although I do not want to be unduly encourag-
ing about the possibilities for next year, you are
welcome to renew the invitation, if you wish, about
three months in advance of the date.
