THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
March 10, 1966
Dear Mr. Mayor:
Iam very grateful to you for your warm
invitation to watch the Atlanta Braves open
the National League baseball season against
the Pittsburgh Pirates in the new Atlanta
stadium.
This is a visit I would truly love to make, but
unhappily Iam already committed to the opening
of the baseball season here in Washington on
April 11. Asa result, I have had to carry
over many appointments on that day to April 12,
Many times what a President does is often
decided by what he must do. Thus, I send you
my warmest best wishes for a successful base-
ball season in Atlanta, Although I cannot be
with you in person, my thoughts will be with
you.
Sincerely,
Honorable Ivan Allen, Jr.
Mayor of the City of Atlanta
Georgia
