Dear Mr. President:

As an active sportsman and enthusiastic sports spectator yourself,
I feel certain that you appreciate even much more than I how much the
coming of major league baseball will mean to the Southeast,

It will mean ever so much more if you could join with the people

we

from all over our region to celebrate this climaj&e event in the South's
long and exciting sports history - an event that was not possible until Atlanta's
agnieient new municipal stadium came into being as the first facility in
the Southeast capable of handling major league sports,

Accordingly, on behalf of the people of Atlanta and the Southeast, I
would like to extend to you a most cordial invitation to honor us with your
presence on one of the two occasions when the coming of major league baseball
to the Woutheast will be celebrated,

The first celebration will be on July 29, 1965 when our Atlanta Stadium
will be dedicated with an exhibition game between the Milwaukee Braves and
the International All Stars,

The second - and much greater celebration - will be when the baseball
season opens in the spring of 1966, On that date, the Braves will begin their
25 year contract as the Atlanta Braves - the first major league baseball club
ever to be domiciled in the Southeast and, as such, bring regular major
league baseball to our region.

I most earnestly hope that you will be able to be with us on one of

these occasions,
Sincerely,
