Being a part of the economy and receiving
some of the cash flow is the opportunity
to be offered by Model Neighborhood Inc.
H ere at 55 Georgia Avenue SeEe is one
of several planned INDU STRIAL DEVELOPMENTS
to be built in the areas This is a garment
plant. Thirteen (13) women will be em-
ployed here, there are nine (9) working
nove On the shoulders of these womens
rests the success of this plant.
Statistics shows there are more women
heads of house holds in these communities
(Model Cities) then there are in Atlantae
The unemployment rate is the highest.
Model Neighborhood fg. will not be able
to put all these women to work, but it
will try. The success of this plant lead v
to employing 200 or 390 in the near future.
This is a first for Atlanta, and it
is located in the ,odel Gities area one
block from the CeDeAe (Cities Demonstra-—
tions Agency) planning office, and next
door to the BeOehe neighberhood service
center. Model neighborhood Inc. is a
good example of self-helpe M.N.I, en—

obtained a charter, enabling it to be-

purpose und goal.
Model Neighborhood Inc., is presently
govorned by a board of Trustees that are
long time residents of the communities of 47%
Mechnaicsville, Summerhill, Pittsburgh, Fea
and Peopletown. All members are black .” “4

One of several developing projects is
open and operating. Model Neighborhood
Mfge Corp. is employing 13 women, who
