Mayor Ivan Jilen
City Hall
Atlanta, Georgia

Dear Sir:

My wife md I feel you should be made aware of the Chicago type
block-busting tactics being practised in the Peyton~- Utoy Forest
Commnity by Negro real$tors with the thought in mind that if it is
the big Atlanta-of-the-future picture for this area to become colored
it should be done on a whole area basis of oubright purchase rather
than by sneaky money-grubbing pseudo-political trickery which I trust
you are unwittingly condoning by lack of information from your
constituents.

Also, in this vein, we are deeply concerned about two zoning petitions
that effect this lovely commnity and your decisions will be anxiously
awaited, Specifically, they concern property south of Gordon between
Peyton and Iynhurst (Aug. 9th hearing) and the zoning of property east
of Peyton for a Negro cemetery (hearing date not yet set).

We trust you are highly in favor of the two zoning petitions or will
immediately state your position and officiate at the taking over of
this area in a fair and equitable manner to all concerned,

We heartily agree the Negro population of this could-be-wonderful city
must have suitable housing but do not feel it should be obtained by
piece-meal block-busting of established areas, Atlmta will suffer
national stigmatization and eventual stagnation by use of such tactics
as business and taxpayers, like in this commnity, move to more pro-
gressive amd pleasant localities.
