Dear Sirs
I believe you owe an apology to Governor-nominee Lester Maddox
and the several hundred thousand Georgians who voted for him.
Your post election statement with its intemperate, contemptible,
and slurring remarks was deplorable and certainly lacking in
wisdom, justice, or moderation.
The fact that this reckless statement was carried on nation-
wide television is a blot on the good name of the City of Atlanta.
It would have been far better to have suppressed your apparent
bitter feeling of resentment that another Atlantan would beat
you to the governor's mansion.
