1933 Graduates from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Commerce with honors.
1933 Joins the Ivan Allen Company, a firm his father founded in 1900.
1936 Marries Louise Richardson, they have 3 sons: Ivan III, Inman, and Beaumont.

1945-46 Serves as executive secretary for Georgia Governor Ellis Arnall.
1945-47 Serves as President of Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts of America.
March 1, 1946 Becomes president of the Ivan Allen Company, when his father retires. He holds that position until 1970.
