Description
Interview with Julian Bond, conducted during the writing of Georgia Tech History, Technology, and Society Professor Ronald H. Bayor's 1996 book Race and the Shaping of Twentieth-Century Atlanta. In this interview, Bond addresses integration issues and his impact on demonstrations and activism as a student. Bond was an activist and leader during the civil rights movement. He helped to establish the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Having served as the first president of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Bond served four terms in the Georgia House of Representative and six terms in the Georgia Senate. From 1998-2010, he served as chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Notably, Bond narrated the Eyes on the Prize PBS video series.
