Administrative Response to Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This 34-page folder of documents relates to the response of the office of Mayor Ivan Allen to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the office's role in faciliating communication about Dr. King's funeral, which was held in Atlanta on April 9, 1968. Rather than a comprehensive collection of administrative documents about the assassination and its effects, the folder contains a range of documents--some ephemeral and some momentus--that produce a picture of the beaucratic management of the aftermath of Dr. King's murder within the city of Atlanta.
