FULTON LEWIS R. SLATON
TY SOLICITOR GENERAL-ATLANTA JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
COUN THIRD FLOOR COURTHOUSE + ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30303
April 21, 1967
Atlanta Housing Authority
Hurt Building
Atlanta, Georgia 30303
Gentlemen:
Pursuant to a request for an inquiry by the Fulton
County Grand Jury into the deaths of tenants of the Perry
Homes Housing Project due to carbon monoxide poisoning, this
is to advise that a Committee of the March-April 1967 Grand
Jury has looked into this matter.
This Committee reported that they found no evidence
of foul play.
During the investigation into the above matter, it
was learned that the management of Perry H.mes is now in the
process of inspecting every apartment in Perry Homes to ensure
that all vent pipes are secured at the joints by screws, that
all burners are cleaned in order that air-mixing valves may
operate properly and all walls examined for soot marks in order
that corrective action may be taken where necessary. This
Grand Jury has requested that I communicate to you their recom-
mendation that this practice be continued.
Sincerely yours,
LEWIS R. SLATON
