Dear Mayor Allen:
I regret that I did not have an opportunity to meet you while
visiting with the staff and members of the Community Relations
Commission.
It was my good fortune to spend some time with Mrs. Elize
Paschall. You are to be commended for the appointment of
one of the most committed, concerned, and prepared Executive
Directors I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Regardless of the cramped and uncomfortable quarters she is
using, people with problems are constantly calling the
commission office or visiting the commission office seeking
help. The Director spends most of her time on the job trying
to provide an avenue of understanding so that people may live and
work together in racial harmony throughout the city.
I hope that you will look favorably at the need for additional
staff to help Mrs. Paschall expand the service of the Commission.
It is not often that I have observed a Director who does so
much with so little.
It was my pleasure to spend some time with members of the
Commission, and I am sure the kind of dedication each one
has will provide Atlanta with the best and the most effective
Community Relations Commission in the nation.
I hope that if I have an opportunity to return to your fair
city, it will be my pleasure to meet with you. Again, my visit
to Atlanta has been one of the high points in my 2% years
working as the Local Liaison Officer of the Community Relations
Service.
