Mr. Charles 0, Smmerich
Executive Director
Bconomic Opportunity Atlante, Inc.
101 Marietta Street Building
Atlanta, Georgia 30303
Dear Mr. Emmerich:
We thank you for Mr. Terry's letter of December 19, 1966 and your
letter of December 22, 1966 advising that effective December 31,
1966 all funds for recreation activities will be cancelled.
I am aware from reading the newspapers of the diligent efforts which
have been wade by Economic Opportunity Atlanta to recover funds
which were cut from your 1967 appropriation. How the Office of
Reonomic Opportunity could ecar-mark recreation service as “low
priority” is beyond my imagination.
The City of Atlanta has been caught high and dry with ten play lots
to operate in critical poverty areas, recreation service to three
senior citizens high rise apartments, and a hope for intensified
summer recreation program for the poor.
Thanking you for your consideration, I am
Cordially,
