The President
The White House
Washington, D. C,
Dear Mr. President:
Two of the most important events in the South's
distinguished athletic history will be the dedication of
Atlanta's great new municipal stadium on July 29, 1965, |
and the opening day of major league baseball in Atlanta
during April, 1966,
It will mean so much more if you could join the people
from all over our region to celebrate the South's ability
to handle major league sports.
While the stadium dedication will be an occasion of great
local pride, the actual beginning of the twenty-five year
baseball contract with the former Milwaukee Braves will
command more attention as it assumes regionad, even
national scope. Therefore, you may prefer to give more
serious consideration to that event,
The City of Atlanta would be honored to have you present
on either of these occasions, and I will hope for your -
consideration of this possibility.
Respectfully,
Ivan Allen, Jr.
