Dear Mayor Allen:

I felt compelled to express my sincere thanks to you from
my family and me for the tremendous courage you exhibited Tuesday,
September 5, 1966. In the face of personal danger you stood firm
for justice and lawfulness. Your actions are a credit to the office
you hold and certainly every citizen of our great city has respect
for the way you led our police officers during the dark moments
of the riot.

Each of us needs help from a power greater than we, and
therefore it is my prayer that you will be led to make the right

decisions in the days ahead.
