Mayor, City of Atlanta

Dear Mayor Allen:
I just wanted to take this opportunity to personally
congratulate and commend you on the definite and courageous stand
you have taken during the recent racial problems in Atlanta. I
apologize for not being in a position to write earlier, but I was
out of town a good portion of last week; however, I can assure you
that I didn't miss any of the newscasts or neglect an opportunity
to keep up to date on the current situation in Atlanta.
Before I left for Texas last weekend, I told Carl Reith,
our president and a personal friend of yours, how much I admired the
action you had initiated, and I want to go on record that you have
considerably more "nerve" than I have at this point. I would further
like to state, that although my time seems to be at a premium, I
know that you are a much busier individual than any of us at Colonial
Stores and if I can ever help in any way, please feel free to call on
me. I would deem it a privilege and an honor to be able to support
you in any manner. You have my utmost respect and confidence.
Sincerely,
Wm. M. Robinson \
